IN BLUE Looking as good as they do The Corrs could probably exploit the music industry more than they have by making records devoid of soul and integrity. However that is just not in their nature and In Blue as with their previous material highlights the fact that they have a great deal of ability and complete faith in the way they utilise it. The hooky single 'Breathless' gets things underway and virtually every track that follows is a potential hit never straying far from the redoubtable formula that works so well for them. The MTV Unplugged album that the band recorded in 1999 proved that they are able to deliver their own brand of folk-pop without the comfort and safety of the studio and it follows that the best songs from this collection are those where the production is not too apparent. Indeed there are two songs here that were on the Unplugged collection and although they lose the raw energy that performing live infused 'At Your Side' and 'Radio' are still excellent tracks. There is a definite movement towards the R&B sounds which continue to permeate the world of pop and this is aided by the influence of Mutt Lange who has worked extensively with Shania Twain.
